Morissette put on ‘strict vocal rest’ but manager assures singer still with ‘ASAP’

The new format of ABS-CBN Sunday variety show “ASAP” – now known as “ASAP Natin ’To!” – has sparked mixed reactions from audience, fans and critics alike.

Some praised the show’s intentions of featuring ordinary people with inspiring stories, while others were delighted seeing “ASAP” mainstays Gary Valenciano, Piolo Pascual, Sarah Geronimo, Daniel Padilla, and Ogie Alcasid, as well as now-Kapamilya artist Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, performing on one stage.

However, a number of viewers noted the absence of those considered pillars of the show, including Zsa Zsa Padilla, Martin Nievera, and Toni Gonzaga.

On social media platforms, several inquiries also triggered speculations on whether or not Morissette Amon will join the entertainment program in the coming weeks.

Bulletin Entertainment recently did an exclusive interview with Morissette’s manager Carlo Orosa during which he assured the young singer is still part of “ASAP Natin ’To!”

But where she is now, we asked.

Well, it turns out the singer has been advised by doctors to be put on “complete, strict vocal rest” for several weeks.

Still, Carlo assured there’s “nothing serious” about Morissette’s condition.

“At first it was very alarming (to be told to get complete vocal rest) given her age,” he admitted. “But the doctor said she just needs to rest. She was advised to totally not speak for how many weeks. Let’s just understand her situation because at the end of the day, she’s human. Her body is not a machine.”

Morissette’s condition is nothing new in the local music industry. Recall that in 2012, the Asia’s Songbird lost her voice temporarily due to a viral infection.

Carlo dismissed the notion Morissette is “overworked.” He said it’s just that she is the type of singer who gives her 100 percent in every performance.

“Morissette’s biggest competitor is herself. She believes in the saying, ‘You are only good as your last performance,’ that why she keeps doing better and better and I must applaud her for that,” he said. “She doesn’t want to disappoint. She’s a natural giver, she always give what the fans want. The good thing about her is we never hear her say, ‘I’m tired.’

“When she asked permission to rest, we immediately gave her that time. We are very considerate of her situation and we know that she needs to be in her 100 percent to be able to fulfill her commitments,” Carlo added.

When will she comeback?

“She will be very busy again this December,” Carlo noted then added Morissette will do shows out of town, including a US concert and a stint yet again in Korea.
