By Alex Dennise San Juan  A tropical depression developed on the east of Mindanao outside the Philippine area of responsibility is expected to enter the country on Sunday, the state weather bureau said. In the weather update of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)issued Friday morning, the weather disturbance is located at 2,310 kilometers east of Mindanao. PAGASA / MANILA BULLETIN The tropical depression packs maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 45 kilometers per hour while moving westward at 20 kilometers per hour. PAGASA weather specialist Gener Quitlong said that the tropical depression is most likely to enter PAR on Sunday and will be locally named as "Samuel," the 19th tropical cyclone to enter the country this year. It is expected to further intensify and is possible to reach a severe tropical storm category. According to PAGASA, a severe tropical storm is a tropical cyclone with maximum wind speed of 89 to 117 kilometers per hour or 48 to 63 knots. Based on its current track, “Samuel” will be passing through the central part of the country specifically over CARAGA region, Central and Western Visayas, and Palawan. Quitlong added that "Samuel" might possibly make a landfall on CARAGA region between Tuesday (November 20) or Wednesday (November 21) and will exit the country by Thursday (November 22) or Friday (November 23). Meanwhile, the low pressure area (LPA) over Palawan is already outside the country but it continues to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in the province and in Western Visayas. The LPA is expected to intensify into a tropical depression while moving towards Vietnam but it will have no effect on the country. The prevailing northeast monsoon in the country is also affecting the northern part of Luzon specifically Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains. In Metro Manila and the rest of the country, PAGASA said that fair weather with hot and humid temperature will prevail but partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers is also expected to be experienced due to localized thunderstorms.
