Robin Padilla and Kakai Bautista have shared their thoughts on the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) Memorandum Order (MO) No. 20 Series of 2013.
Under the MO, CHED will reduce the General Education Curriculum (GEC) to minimum of 36 units and the Filipino and Panitikan (Philippine Literature) will be removed from the core subjects of colleges. The change was made in accordance to the K-12 Education program.
Kakai tweeted an editorial illustration showing a tongue of a kid. The tongue read "Wikang Filipino," scissor read "CHED," and the injection read "Korean Language."

Attached with the caricature is a caption in which she said in Filipino: "Can you please explain this in a way that we could understand it better, CHED?"
She then cited Japan where love for own language prevails that’s why it is a “progressive” country.
In another post, she added that she understands Filipinos love Korea, Koreans, their telenovelas, their food, their pop superstars, and she doesn’t “hate” it and in fact she’s actually a fan.

"(But) please don’t let them invade our own culture. Cut Panitikan to teach Korean language? No,” she noted.
Robin also has his thoughts on the subject.
The actor reiterated that Filipino is not just a language, but part of his identity.
“It is a treasure, a culture, a tradition of us, Filipinos,” he explained in Tagalog on Instagram.

Robin cleared he’s not against learning other languages, saying even our national hero, Jose Rizal, knows 22 languages. Rather, he hopes CHED won’t abolish the Filipino and Panitikan subjects for colleges.
