DAVAO CITY – The body of a farmer was found decapitated after he was reportedly hacked by his drinking buddy in Marilog District here on Thursday afternoon.
The Marilog Police Station identified the victim as Ernesto O. Dalay-ao, 45, resident of Mountainside, and the suspect as Renante E. Andig 27, a resident of Sitio Unapan, both from Barangay Suawan.
Leonor, Dalay-ao’s wife, disclosed to the police that her husband and the suspect were drinking coconut wine (tuba) inside their house, around 1:30 p.m. of November 15 when they got into an argument.
According to Leonor, the drunken confrontation turned ugly when Andig unsheathed his bolo then hacked at her husband’s neck.
The wife added that the incident was witnessed by their neighbor Alona O. Damale.
The suspect was arrested by the police officers in his residence about 30 minutes later. The 24-inch murder weapon was also recovered from him.
Suspect is now detained at the Marilog Police Station, and police are now preparing the documents to charge the suspect.
