Court orders Ladlad's transfer to Metro Manila district jail

By Alexandria Dennise San Juan A local court has ordered the transfer of National Democratic Front consultant Vicente Ladlad to the Metro Manila District Jail on Friday after the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office resolved to file charges for illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and explosives against them following his arrest in Novaliches earlier this month. (ALI VICOY / MANILA BULLETIN) In a commitment order from Regional Trial Court Branch 93 issued by Presiding Judge Arthur Malabaguio, Ladlad and one of his companions, Alberto Villamor, were ordered to be moved from Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit in Camp Karingal to the Metro Manila District Jail in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City. Meanwhile, their other companion, Virginia Villamor, was committed to the Quezon City Female Dormitory inside Camp Karingal. The 64-year-old Ladlad and elderly couple Alberto and Virginia were arrested on November 8, at their alleged safehouse in Bgy. San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City, following serving of of a search warrant served by combined operatives of police and army forces. Police report showed that during the search, several high-powered firearms, assorted ammunition, some hand grenades and subversive documents were seized inside the house resulting in their arrest. Over the week, senior assistant city prosecutor and chief inquest Manuel Luis Felipe issued a resolution which stated the three were "lawfully arrested" for illegally possessing firearms, ammunition, and explosives. The prosecutor also found that the evidence presented was sufficient to hold the suspects for trial in court. Based on the resolution, the prosecutor recommended no bail for the offense of unlawful possession of explosives, while a bail bond of P150,000 for each of the three suspects for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and another bail of P200,000 also of RA 10591. Prior to the arrest of Ladlad, two other peace consultants, Rafael Baylosis and Adelberto Silva, were also arrested in separate incidents since the termination of the peace talks between the government and the NDFP.
