Police seize P150,000 worth of suspected shabu in Tondo buy-bust ops
Operatives of Jose Abad Police Station seized P150,000 worth of suspected shabu from two men during a buy-bust operation in Tondo, Manila on Friday.
Police identified the suspects as Mohamad Ali Dalundong, 26, and Mohaimin Abdol, 21, both residents of 351 Arlegui Street, Quiapo, Manila.
The two were collared by the police while selling illegal drugs to a poseur buyer at the corner of Rizal Avenue and Pampanga Street in Tondo at about 3:30 p.m. yesterday.
Fifty grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street-value of P150,000 as well as P1,000 buy-bust money placed on top of P9,000 fake money were confiscated from the suspects.
The pieces of evidence recovered were forwarded to Manila Police District (MPD) Crime Lab for examination.
Meanwhile the suspects are currently detained at Jose Abad Police Station and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Ria Fernandez)
Former PBA coach arrested in Makati
A former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) coach was arrested on Friday after allegedly firing his gun due to an argument with his neighbor in Makati City.
Police arrested Dante Silverio, former coach of PBA teams Toyota and Shell shortly after he allegedly fired his gun near his residence in Barangay Magallanes, Makati City.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 10:23 a.m. inside the Ecology Village, Barangay Magallanes, Makati City.
According to Police Chief Insp. Gideon Ines of the Makati City Police, Silverio has a long-time feud with his neighbor which led to an argument on Friday. The said squabble led to Silverio firing his caliber. 38.
This prompted their neighbor to call in the police but Siverio was able to escape on board his white Fortuner and was later arrested at his office on Chino Roces Extension, Makati City.
Police wasn't able to recover the said firearm.
Silverio is currently under hospital arrest at the Makati Medical Center after he complained of having chest and stomach pains. He will be facing charges of alarm and scandal. (Dhel Nazario)
Teenage construction worker arrested for possession of sachet of dried marijuana
A 17-year-old construction worker was nabbed after police seized from him a sachet of dried marijuana fruiting tops during an inspection at the gate of Quezon City Police District headquarters Friday.
Police said the suspect was said to be working for a facility construction inside Camp Karingal.
At around 8:30 a.m., Friday, the minor was about to enter Camp Karingal when the duty sentinel seized from him the illegal drugs during a mandatory inspection.
Aside from the plastic sachet containing illegal drugs, two glass tubes with traces of marijuana, a box of cigarette and a lighter was also confiscated from the suspect.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 are being prepared against the suspect who will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Developmeny after inquest proceedings. (Alex San Juan)
Holdup suspect killed in shootout with cops
A holdup suspect was killed in a shootout with policemen after he tried to resist arrest while his cohort escaped shortly after they robbed a 20-year-old student in Quezon City before dawn Saturday.
Investigators of the Quezon City Police District said the armed slain suspect was still unidentified but described him to be in his early 30s, clad in black jacket, short maong pants, slippers and helmet.
Prior to the incident, a female complainant said she was walking with her friend along Balete Drive near corner Dama De Noche Street in Barangay Mariana, New Manila at around 1 a.m
Minutes later, two motorcycle-riding armed men stopped in front of them and robbed her duffle bag containing some cash and her personal belongings.
Meanwhile, a concerned citizen nearby saw the incident and immediately reported it to patrolling cops of QCPD-Galas Police Station (PS-11) who responded and alerted other officers.
Nearly an hour after, authorities spotted the two men on motorcycle that matched the description of the witness traversing at Victoria Avenue in Barangay Mariana.
Lawmen flagged down the suspects but instead of stopping, they sped off resulting in a brief chase.
Upon reaching 7th Street near corner 6th Street, the duo's motorbike abruptly swerved causing the back rider to fall while his companion escaped.
Instead of surrendering, the suspect still resisted arrest and shot at pursuing policemen prompting them to retaliate and hit the robber who died on the spot.
Recovered from the slain suspect were the victim's stolen black Tommy Hilfiger duffle bag containing clothes, P600 cash, credit card, school ID, and some belongings of the victim.
She also positively identified the slain man as one of the two suspects who robbed her.
Further investigation is underway while a manhunt is on against the other suspect who escaped. (Alex San Juan)
