DPWH to extend 2-lane Looc Bridge in Biliran to 4 lanes

  By Betheena Unite Widening of the 24-meter Looc Bridge in Biliran is already underway, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced. The construction, according to Biliran District Engineer David Adongay Jr., involves the construction of two additional lanes with a width of 3.66 meters each on both sides of the bridge. The widening project costsP21.9 million. At present, the contractor has finished mobilizing the equipment and materials for the project and is now clearing the construction site, Adongay said. The widening of Looc Bridge from two lanes to four lanes will complement its already widened approach of road opening to Kawayan, Biliran and the ongoing widening of national roads in the province, the district engineer noted. “DPWH is expecting to provide safer roads and better travel experience for at least 5,000 motorists traversing the Biliran Circumferential Road with the completion of the project in January 2019,” he added. Meanwhile, more projects are expected to be implemented in the province with its P1.8-billion infrastructure funds for 2018 under the government’s infrastructure program “Build, Build, Build”.
