Lady pedestrian killed after being hit by motorcycle, taxi cab in Pasay
A lady pedestrian was killed after she was hit by an approaching motorcycle before being hit once more by taxi cab while crossing the street in Pasay City on Tuesday.
The victim was identified by police as Jandale Barrameda, a resident of Pioneer St., Addas Greenfields, Mambog IV, Bacoor Cavite. Barrameda died after being treated at the Pasay City General Hospital.
The motorcycle rider was identified as Roden Velarde, of Galatia Street, Multinational Village, Moonwalk, Parañaque City. Police were unable to apprehend to driver of the taxi cab who immediately fled after the incident.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 4:30 in the morning along the Westbound Lane of EDSA-FB Harrison Street, Pasay City.
Police said that Velarde travelling along EDSA coming from Makati City towards the direction of MOA and upon reaching EDSA-FB Harrison Street, he accidentally bumped Barrameda.
The victim was thrown off to the pavement and was then hit by an approaching taxi cab. Velarde's back rider, along with the victim, was rushed to the Pasay City General hospital where Barrameda later died.
The motorcycle is now under the custody of the Pasay City Vehicular Traffic Accident Section for safekeeping while charges are being readied against the driver. (Dhel Nazario)
3 nabbed in Manila buy-bust ops
Three men were arrested in the wee hours of Tuesday for selling hallucinogenic party drug lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD).
The suspects were identified as John Frediq Leslie, 21, of Muntinlupa City; Mamoru Tochizawa, 21, of San Pedro, Laguna; and, Mark Joseph De Jose, 22, of Tondo, Manila.
Elements of Ermita Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) conducted a buy-bust operation against the suspects along Arroceros Street, Ermita, Manila at around 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 6.
Policemen then seized 107 multi-colored blotting paper believed to be LSD and P700 marked money from the suspects.
The suspects are now detained, facing charges in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Ria Fernandez)
Liquor, drug paraphernalia seized from 4 QC female detainees
Four female detainees of Quezon City Police Station 10 are now facing additional charges after police seized from them liquor and some drug paraphernalia while inside the detention cell.
Police said that the contraband was recovered from the suspects identified as Ruth Palos, 56, Irish Padilla, 30, Camille Gonzales, 28, and Baby Jane Angustia, 26.
The group is currently detained at the Quezon City Police District-Kamuning Police Station (PS-10) after they were arrested last week for illegal drugs.
An investigation also showed that some of the women were included in the police station's drug watchlist, while some are former drug surrenderers.
Police report showed that a certain Gio Lusing visited Padilla at the PS-10 Custodial Facility on Tuesday morning where he gave her two iced tea plastic bottles which turned out to be containing beer.
Meanwhile, the duty jailer saw Lusing handed the plastic bottles to the female detainee prompting him to confiscate it.
Upon checking, it turned out that the bottles were containing beer.
Authorities immediately conducted an inspection inside the detention cell where they seized a green tupperware from Gonzales containing two rolled aluminum foil containing traces of shabu, and two disposable lighters.
Padilla admitted that she and her companions owned the shabu paraphernalia and that Lusing appeared to be her drug runner.
Further investigation is underway while a manhunt is on against Lusing who was able to escape. (Alex San Juan)
11 female youth offenders escape from MYRC
Another 11 female youth offenders escaped from the Manila Youth Recreational Center (MYRC) custodial facility in Arroceros, Manila Wednesday morning.
According to Social Welfare Officer Nanette Tanyag, the minors were able to escape by sawing off their dormitory on the second floor of MYRC at around 3:30 a.m.
Police said the minors were involved in illegal drugs, illegal possession of firearms, gambling, snatching, and other crimes.
It can be recalled that 37 male youth offenders also escaped from MYRC on Oct. 23, however, only 12 of them were recaptured by the members of the city hall security force.
Meanwhile, MYRC refused to issue a statement regarding the said incident. (Erma Edera)
