The Perkins Twins – Jesse and Christian – seem too good to be true. They reject pre-marital sex, drugs, smoking, and drinking. They’re against bullying of any form – physical and emotional.

But the young Fil-Ams (dad Tarny is American; mom Tess is a Filipina from Tuguegarao) are as real as the Top 40 songs they perform, the screaming fans they inspire (Perkinspired), and “Kaibigan,” the faith-based film they star in.
The fraternal twins tour schools and malls nationwide and talk about values and good clean fun, shunning vices. They encourage students to “do what is right.”
“We believe we can encourage young people not to follow the world,” the two said. “Don’t get sucked into the world.”
“Kaibigan,” their first full-length film, is a natural progression for them. It is about two high school students (Jesse and Christian) who, faced with real high school problems, must deal with the choices they make and the consequences of their choices.
“The Christian life is the abundant life. ‘Kaibigan’ has lots of action scenes. It’s a basketball movie. There are tear-jerking scenes and suspense. And the movie includes great music,” they said.
Also in the cast are Stephen Baldwin, Cesar Montano, Tirso Cruz III, Lani Mercado, Alvin Anson, Carla Martinez, Jean Garcia and Boots Anson-Roa.
It is said Tarny and Tess got support from President Rodrigo Duterte himself, who extended his meeting with the “Kaibigan” team from 15 minutes to an hour. Tarny said the President, known for his strong anti-drug drive, was upbeat throughout the meeting. He talked about the Lord and his love for the Filipinos. He even gave Baldwin some advice on the upcoming marriage of Justin Bieber to Baldwin’s daughter, Hailey.
“Kaibigan” is said to have also found supporters in the Dangerous Drugs Board, the Department of Education, the Philippine National Police and provincial governors and mayors.
