“It's a sad news, the medical findings; and we would like to really pray for our President that he would be recovering from this found illness,” CBCP President Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles told church-run Radyo Veritas.
Earlier, President Duterte disclosed that he went to Cardinal Santos Medical Center so doctors can get a sample after a possible growth was discovered in his digestive tract.
He also asked the faithful to pray for the Chief Executive.
“We would pray for him that he would be back to his health so that he can run the affairs of the country,” said Valles.
San Pablo Bishop Buenaventura Famadico is also praying for Duterte.
“We pray for him,” he said when asked about the President during a press briefing for the visit of the heart relic of St. Padre Pio in the Philippines.
The prelate, however, did not elaborate his answer.
