ATI first int'l port in PH to be certified under ISO 45001:2018

Sustaining its safety leadership in the ports industry, listed Asian Terminals, Inc. (ATI) was recently certified as ISO 45001:2018 compliant, becoming the first international port operator in the Philippines to secure the upgraded global standard in occupational health and safety. ATI logo (Photo courtesy of www.asianterminals.com.ph) ATI logo (Photo courtesy of www.asianterminals.com.ph) Independent audit body TUV Rheinland Philippines conferred ATI’s compliance to the top-tier management system, incidentally making ATI its first auditee to successfully transition from OHSES 18001 to ISO 45001, well ahead of the new standard’s adoption deadline in 2021. Aside from this feat, ATI was recertified for its global standards on Environment Management (ISO 14001:2005), Quality Management (ISO 9001:2015) and Supply Chain Security Management (ISO 28000:2007) by the same audit firm. Altogether, these standards form part of ATI’s Integrated Management System which underpins the company’s robust risk management strategy, anchored on promoting a safe, healthy, secure and eco-friendly port environment for workers and stakeholders alike. “We are very pleased to be the first international terminal operator in the Philippines to have secured the ISO45001:2018 and be recertified for our Integrated Management System. These achievements further attest that ATI’s processes are at par with world-best practices,” ATI executive vice president William Khoury said. “As a responsible port organization, it is our conscious commitment to implement the highest standards on health, safety, quality, security and environment, which collectively contribute to safer, better and more efficient port services for the Philippine supply chain,” Khoury added. Safety has always been ATI’s number one priority. This same corporate culture has paved the way for pioneering innovations now being implemented or soon up for adoption in other terminals across DP World, ATI’s foreign shareholder partner and the world’s leading trade enabler. These include ATI’s homegrown solar-powered twist-lock pinning stations, fall arrest system, edge protector prototypes, general cargo handling procedures, among other ideas originating from ATI’s frontline dockworkers and safety professionals. ATI was also the first Philippine company to have achieved an ISO 28000:2007 certification, further complementing the ISPS Code instituted by the International Maritime Organization, to which the Manila South Harbor and Batangas Port operator is likewise compliant to.
