The government is ready to implement smooth disaster response and relief, following the onslaught of typhoon Rosita in Luzon.
Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo
(OPS / MANILA BULLETIN) Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said concerned government agencies have been placed on standby 24/7 to extend assistance to communities affected by the latest storm. "The President is closely monitoring the areas likely to be hit by Typhoon Rosita,” Panelo said in a statement "The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Operation Center is now on red alert. Concerned disaster-related agencies are now on standby 24/7,” he said. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has readied stockpiles and standby funds amounting to P1.3 billion as of October 29, Panelo added. As the government forces have been mobilized for the storm, Panelo has called for public vigilance to ensure safety amid the weather disturbance. "We ask our people, especially residents who will be affected by the typhoon, to stay vigilant, check the latest weather advisory in their respective areas via government social media accounts and coordinate with their local disaster and risk reduction management offices for appropriate and responsive action," he said. Typhoon Rosita reportedly made landfall in Dinapigue, Isabela, dumping heavy rains and strong winds to the province and other provinces in Luzon. The typhoon is reportedly expected to hit Ifugao, Benguet and La Union before leaving the country’s area of responsibility Wednesday.
