Palestinian protester's photo drawing comparisons to Liberty painting goes viral

By MB Online A photo of a protester in Gaza went viral and has drawn comparisons with the iconic French Revolution painting, Liberty Leading the People. The protester was identified as Palestinian A'ed Abu Amro, 20-year-old, from al-Zaytoun neighbourhood in Gaza City. The photograph was captured by Turkey's Anadolu Agency Mustafa Hassouna last October 22 in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza. "I was surprised this picture of me went viral," Amro told Al Jazeera in an interview. The image has been tweeted over 5,000 times. He said that he participate in protests on a weekly basis or more. Amro added that he was not aware that there was a photographer near him.
