An emotional Senator Nancy Binay on Tuesday admitted having shed tears over the feud between her sister Makati City Mayor Abigail “Abby” Binay and her brother former mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay Jr.

Gusto ko nga pag-gising ko, pwede, matutulog na lang ako ulit (Yes, I’ve shed a lot of tears. When I wake up, I want to sleep again),” Binay told reporters in an interview. “Padamihan kami yata ng luha. Pero iyan, kaming magkakapatid (I think we’re all emotional over this..but this is how we are as siblings),” the senator said in jest. Senator Binay, who is also running for reelection in next year’s polls, also said that even if she is the eldest among them, she does not interfere with the decisions of her siblings. “Ay hindi ako nakikialam. Mabait akong ate hindi ako nagdidikta (I don’t meddle. I’m a good sister, I don’t impose),” she said. Besides, she said, they also had to consider their constituents in Makati who will decide their fate. “Syempre may mga ibang tao na kailangan mong isipin. Kumbaga iyong mga taga-Makati, what will be best for them so it’s not, technically nga kailangan mag-sacrifice sa family para magkaroon ng choice iyong taga-Makati kung sinong pipiliin nila (We need to think of the others. The citizens of Makati knows what will be best for them. So technically, the family has to sacrifice so that the people of Makati can choose whom they want),” she said. For now, she said the family is focused on isolating their children from politics and other issues their family is facing.
