Tonyboy Floirendo to seek reelection

Tejano TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte — Davao del Norte 2nd District Representative Antonio “Tonyboy” Floirendo were among the first-day filers of his certificate of candidacy (COC) before the Commission on Elections (Comelec), here. Seeking reelection in the 2019 midterm polls, Floirendo is running under the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), a regional party founded by presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

Remember pag congressman ka, distrito mo ang titignan mo (Of course, we should continue helping out district. When you’re in Congress, you look after your district). You make sure that they are all happy with the delivery of goods and services to them,” he said. In filing his COC, the congressman was accompanied by five board members of the HNP, seeking for a position in the higher office. They were Dr. Daniel Lu (balikbayan), Roy Catalan (reelectionist), Janet Gavina (balikbayan), Janet Tanong (reelectionist), and Ely Dacalos (balikbayan). “This lineup I have, has always been my lineup. May iba sa kanila balikbayan, which means nag-retire na, tapos bumalik ulit. Sabi ko nga sa kanila, I love you all for being loyal,” he said. Floirendo expressed optimism that they will all win because of their strong will and with the guidance of the Almighty. He also said they welcome all their possible rivalry in the second district in the upcoming election.
