BTS wraps up North American tour with 220,000 fans

K-pop group BTS has completed the North American leg of their “Love Yourself” world tour. BTS became the first Korean artist to perform at the big venue, which is the home field of the New York Mets. BTS drew 220,000 fans for the 15 concerts they held in the US and Canada. After launching the “Love Yourself” tour in Seoul last Aug. 25 and 26, BTS started their North American tour in Los Angeles performing on Sept. 5-6 and 8-9 at the Staples Center. This was followed by concerts in Oakland, California; Fort Worth, Texas; Hamilton in Ontario, Canada; Newark, New Jersey; Chicago, Illinois; and Queens, New York. BTS members said it is an honor to perform at Citi Field. “I still can’t believe it and it feels like I’ve achieved one of my precious dreams. Many people have been waiting for us outside, and we will try to put on a show that lives up to their expectations,” said RM, according to the K-pop Herald. J-Hope said, “Performing at Citi Field is really meaningful for us. Both in my musical career and my life as Jung Ho-seok, it is going to be one big (moment in) history.” “We’ve finally came to Citi Field as we’ve been dreaming of. I thought we had performed on large stages during our world tours, but never thought we would perform at a bigger place,” commented V. Jin said that “it’s our great honor to perform in such a huge place not only in Korea but also in the US” while Suga pointed out that “our show at Citi Field has a great significance as much as our performance at Olympic Stadium in Seoul and dome concert in Japan.” “I still can’t believe it and I have nothing but gratitude for fans who always come to our concerts and support us,” said Jimin. For Jungkook, having their first stadium show in the US is “a great honor and a very special moment, even the best day of this year.” After the US, BTS will perform in Europe in London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Paris.
