Dimples Romana’s first acting job on “Esperanza” in 1997 saw her snarling at and bickering with and plotting evil against someone. Since then, and in that way, the actress has been lovable.

In a recent interview, the actress shared she considers it the “evilest” role she has ever done. At 12 years old, she gave justice to the character under the helm of Jerry Lopez Sineneng, with whom she reunites on afternoon series “Kadenang Ginto.”
The story is about Romina (Beauty Gonzalez) who, after she was raped by an unknown man a day before her suppose wedding with long time boyfriend Carlos (Adrian Alandy) – finds refuge in Robert (Albert), the owner of the company she works for. They eventually become lovers, but Daniela (Dimples) will get in their way and do everything to tear them apart. Mean and conceited, Daniela will treat Romina unfairly and accuse her of being a gold digger.
Their conflict will push Daniela to run away and live on her own. But she will return as Carlos’ wife, and will bring with them their daughter Margaret (Andrea Brillantes).
Dimples admitted doing such scenes feels new to her.
“I know it’s going to be great for me as an actor, great for my portfolio,” she said.
“I think it will never be easy for anybody to play the bad guy. Even if you would try it in front of a mirror – trying to change yourself – you’d see it’s difficult.”
Does she have a hard time letting go of the character off cam, we asked.
Dimples said that after all these years, she has learned how to do it.
“But it wasn’t that easy. It was really hard to let go because it’s real emotion. We’re not faking anything for the sake of just delivering it. We really feel it in context,” she said.
Funny enough, Dimples is a kitten in person.
“I don’t get mad easily,” she pointed out. “That’s why I make sure to study my character well and always listen to our directors and bosses. I need their guidance on what emotions I should convey.”

Later, Dimples said, “Actors have this toolbox from which they pick what they need. But I think for this character I would need to use a lot of those tools.”
Asked what role she can’t do, Dimples said it’s one that has to do kissing scene.
“I just can’t do it. It’s actually my weakness. I’m not comfortable doing that. I guess I don’t know how to do intimate scene. It’s nothing personal to my co-actor, it’s just really me. I really have a problem with intimate scenes. I feel like I’d end up giggling,” she explained. “That’s why I have high respect for actors who can do that. It takes a lot of guts and security of self.”
Other cast members of “Kadenang Ginto” are Eula Valdez, Ronnie Lazaro, Luke Conde, Nikko Natividad, Adrian Lindayag, Kat Galang, and Savannah Rosales.
