ILOILO CITY—Another bomb threat has cancelled classes at Ateneo de Iloilo-Santa Maria Catholic School (ADI-SMCS) here Tuesday.

An unmarked bag was found near one of the gates of the Jesuit school in Mandurriao district past 10 a.m. It was suspected to contain an improvised explosive device (IED).
Parents rushed to the school to fetch their children, as reports circulated that the bag did contain an IED.
But a police bomb disposal team that checked out the bag found no such device.
“Upon the analysis of the EOD, the alleged bomb found within Gate 2 of ADI-SMCS campus was a hoax. But it was intentionally made to appear like a real Improvised Explosive Device,” said Fr. Joseph Haw, president of ADI-SMCS.
“We are very thankful for the full cooperation of the whole community in the evacuation and safety procedures this morning,” said Haw in a statement.
Accordingly, Haw said the incident had been planned.
“It intends not only to disrupt school activities but also to sow fear among our stakeholders and the whole city. ADI-SMCS condemns in the strongest terms such action,” Haw said.
Meanwhile, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) continued to investigate the incident.
