JBL launches first Google Assistant-powered speakers in PH

Amplifying its local offering of audio products, Harman International has brought in the JBL Link and JBL Everest series, the first range of headphones and speakers with Google Assistant, to the Philippines.

The JBL Link series comprised of the JBL Link 10, JBL Link 20, JBL Link 300, and JBL Link 500 is a handsfree, voice command-operated range of speakers. Through Google Assistant, users can stream music, ask questions, manage everyday tasks, and easily control connected smart devices around the home using voice commands “Ok, Google” or “Hey, Google.” Aside from Google Assistant, the JBL Link line also comes with Chromecast built-in for video content streaming.

The JBL Link 10 and JBL Link 20 are portable speakers with IPX7 waterproof rating, allowing users to have uninterrupted music wherever they go with 5 hours and 10 hours of battery life respectively. The JBL Link 300 and JBL Link 500, meanwhile, are poised to be reliable music sources at home. Through the Google Home App, speakers under the Link line as well as other JBL audio products can be connected to have a multiple speaker setup for a powerful, louder multi-room listening experience.

Alongside the launch of the Link series, JBL has also announced the revamped line of JBL Everest series, now also available with Google Assistant.

Carrying the signature JBL sound, the in-ear Everest Elite 110GA, on-ear Everest 310GA, and over-ear Everest 710GA allow users to have easy and convenient control over the connected device’s notifications, music, phone calls, text messages, and other smartphone functions. The revamped Everest lineup also comes with a touch-sensitive ear cup and earbud, allowing one tap access for Google Assistant.

The Everest Elite 110GA, Everest 310GA, and Everest 710GA promote long hours of playtime with a stamina of 8 hours, 10 hours, and 25 hours, respectively.

According to Harman Lifestyle Audio Country Head for the Philippines Larry Secreto, the latest lineup of Google Assistant-equipped headphones and speakers fit the curious and techsavvy Filipino market.

“A lot of Filipinos are what we call early adopters. They like to try new things and they always want to be the first to have something like the JBL Link because it is one of the first Google Assistant-powered speakers. I think a lot of Filipinos, especially young people would like to be the first to try the Everest and Link lineup. It fits the Filipino market,” he said.

“Young people like the sound quality and the design, and now we’re adding a new format with the addition of Google Assistant. It adds up to everything the consumers want to have.”

“We’ll make sure that we are introducing the latest technology while keeping the same value for consumers that JBL has for the last few years,” Secreto added.

He also shared that the introduction of the JBL Link and Everest series is only the beginning, as JBL will continue bringing audio products with Google Assistant.

“We’ll have a lot more products with Google Assistant and I think this will be the trend of the market. We think it’s really the right time for Filipino consumers to enjoy these kinds of products,” he said.
