Known for creating the prosthetic hand of Dingdong Dantes in “Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles,” and the metal costume worn by Vic Sotto “Enteng Kabisote,” as well as props and other sets for that popular fantasy film, artist Mario “Ram” Mallari, Jr. will soon have an exhibit in Hong Kong and an art-reality show to be aired on an international cable channel.
Mario 'Ram' Mallari Jr.
Mallari is considered a proponent of steampunk, a genre or movement that depicts technology and art inspired by 19th century steam-powered technology. His metal sculptures of lighthouses, steamships and zeppelins are prime examples of the steampunk style.
He has revealed some tools of his trade.
“Ginagamit kong pambutas, panghasa, at pang-welding ang MaxSell Powertools,” he said. “Ito ang kailangan kasi hindi ‘gagalaw’ ang work.”
To put together metal pieces, Mallari relies on Shinsetsu Welding Machine, which he has been using since 2013.
