Jailbird escapee recaptured A detainee who is escaped from the Caloocan City Jail has been re-arrested by the Pasay City Police on Tuesday at the Villamor Air Base, Pasay City. On the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Caloocan Regional Trial Court Judge Eleonor Kwong , police collared Albert Biol, alias "Daniel Mercado Morres", 43, for two counts of robbery, robbery with homicide, violation of the RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regultation Act and RA 6539 or the Anti-Carnapping Act. According to the report submitted to Southern Police District (SPD) Chief Senior Supt. Eliseo Cruz, prior to Biol's arrest, police received information that he was sighted at Barangay 183, Villamor Airbase, Pasay City. Members of the Northern Police District (NPD) presented the Alias Order of Arrest and the necessary documents relative to the escapee. Biol was arrested in an operation at 9:30 in the morning at 19th St., corner 4th St., at Barangay 183, Villamor Airbase, Pasay City while doing construction work. Biol escaped from the Caloocan City Jail on February 11 this year at 3:25 in the morning by destroying the ceiling of an isolation cell, before climbing the perimeter wall. (Dhel Nazario) Laborers caught pilfering Two construction workers, who are part of a building’s demolition team, were arrested by Mandaluyong City police Tuesday evening for stealing 17 pieces of electrical wires. The suspects were identified as Joseph Jabulan, 44, and Gon Mansalay, 29, both from Barangay San Rafael, Montalban, Rizal. Police report showed that at around 11 p.m., a security guard at a mall in Ortigas Center made rounds to inspect the area during the said period. Allegedly, he caught the two construction workers at the Level 2, Phase 1 of the building, pulling installed wires on the wall and cutting it into pieces. The guard said detaching any electrical wires from the building was not part of the suspects’ job. Jabulan was arrested on the spot while Mansalay later surrendered to the security office. Elements of the Police Community Precinct 4 (PCP-4) of the Mandaluyong City Police recovered 17 pieces of cut 3.5 mm electrical wires weighing at least 3.5 kilograms. The suspects are now detained at Mandaluyong City Police detention cell and are facing a theft charge. (Hanah Tabios) Missing boy found The body of an 11-year-old boy, who went missing during the onslaught of Typhoon Ompong last Saturday, was found floating along Marikina River near Barangay Batasan Hills in Quezon City Tuesday morning. Investigators of the Quezon City Police District identified the victim as Dan Lester Bauyon, a grade 7 student and residing at De Dios Street in Barangay Bagong Silangan, Quezon City. According to a construction worker, he was repairing a riprap at the stretch of Marikina River near Madrid Street in a subdivision in Barangay Batasan Hills around 10 a.m. Wednesday when he saw the body of the victim floating on the water face down. He immediately sought help from barangay officials who pulled the victim's body from the water. While police authorities are conducting investigation on the site, the barangay chairman arrived with a woman named Cherrydel Alfonso, claiming to be the victim's mother. She positively identified the boy who allegedly drowned in the river together with her other son, Dan Lester. (Alexandria San Juan) Technician stabbed dead An air-condition technician was stabbed dead after having an argument with three men that resulted in a scuffle Wednesday in Mailbay, Pasay City. The victim was identified by the police as Marianito Duque, 33, a resident of Ascano St., Barangay 176, Zone 18, Malibay, Pasay City. Duque was pronounced dead on arrival at the San Juan De Dios Hospital due to multiple stab wounds in different parts of the body. Two of the suspects identified as brothers Antonio Picardo, 47 and June Picardo, 44 remain at large, while the other suspect Ricardo Picardo, 22 was arrested by police. Investigation showed that at about 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, a heated argument ensued between the victim and the suspects Antonio and June. According to the report, their squabble eventually got to the point where the victim attempted to pull out a gun. This resulted in a struggle for the possession for the firearm between the victim and the suspects. Two of the suspects managed to take out a knife and an ice pick and proceeded to stab the victim. Authorities were able to arrest Ricardo, while the two other suspects escaped while Duque was brought to the San Juan De Dios Hospital where he later died. (Dhel Nazario)
