MARILAO, Bulacan — With National Grandparents’ Day in our collective consciousness this month of September, SM Bulacan malls in Marilao, San Jose Del Monte, Pulilan and Baliuag swept cheer and love across three old age homes in the province.
An elderly brought smile to her fellow seniors as she sung a heartfelt song during the Employee Volunteerism Program of SM Cares at Emmaus House of Apostolate in the City of Malolos the other day. Through SM’s “Serve More Love for the Elderly” project, volunteers from the four SM malls took a time off from their work to honor, recognize and show love for the elderly.
SM City Baliwag Human Resources Manager Rowena Martin said over 200 seniors and elderly from Tahanang Mapagpala, Emmaus House of Apostolate, and Coalition of Services of the Elderly, Inc in Bulacan benefited from the project.
Elders and seniors got a heartwarming surprise as they were honored with gifts from SM Supermalls and entertained with dance numbers, parlor games and their favorite songs from their era.
Along with a hearty meal, each of the seniors received basic necessities such as toiletries, vitamins and new clothes from the four SM malls in this province.
“The heart of our Serve More Love for the elderly project is to honor the elderly, acknowledge their wisdom, and appreciate their contribution in our society,” said SM City Marilao Human Resources Manager Prescila Salamat.
The activity was spearheaded by SM’s Human Resources Department through SM Cares and one of the many projects under the Employee Volunteerism Program.
