Peter Lim is a fugitive Cebu-based businessman who has an arrest warrant from a Makati regional trial court for charges of conspiring to trade drugs.
Police said the Chuva-Chuva Massage and Spa on Tres Borces Street in barangay Mabolo, Cebu City was in disarray after an unidentified person threw an improvised explosive that detonated at around 2 a.m. Friday.
One of the security guards of the massage parlor said that before the explosion occurred, he saw two persons onboard a motorcycle that stopped in front of the establishment.
The guard said one of the two men was carrying an unidentified item that he reportedly ignited using a lighter before hurling it at the facade of the massage parlor.
The two men returned to their motorcycle and sped off when the device they threw suddenly exploded, damaging the massage parlor's front area.
Luckily, the security guard and eight of the massage parlor's personnel were inside the establishment and were not harmed when the explosion happened.
An hour later, the persons working at the Infinity KTV bar situated on Archbishop Reyes Avenue in barangay Kamputhaw informed police of a similar attempt to bomb the bar but failed.
A guard of the KTV bar told police that he also saw two persons onboard a motorcycle stop in front of the establishment and threw a 1.5-liter soda bottle containing a white powdery substance.
The bottle, which had a fuse and a wick, didn't explode and was immediately recovered by the bar's personnel, the guard said.
Chief Inspector Maria Theresa Macatangay of the Abellana Police Station 2 in Cebu City said she is coordinating with their colleagues in Mabolo to determine if the suspects of the two incidents are one and the same.
They are still trying to determine if both establishments were indeed operated by Lim and if his ownership may have been related to the two incidents.
Macatangay admitted that police found it difficult to initiate an investigation as the management of the Infinity KTV Bar refuses to cooperate with them.
