2 ranking NPA leaders in Calayan, Cagayan arrested

By Liezle Basa Inigo Authorities cornered two prominent leaders of the New People’s Army at Sitio Nagtapulan, Brgy. Naguillan, Camiguin Island, Calayan, Cagayan. Joint operatives of Criminal Investigation and Detection Management Group (CIDG) RSOT-RFU 2, CIDG Cagayan PFU, Regional Intelligence Division, PRO2, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 2 and Special Operations Platoon, Marine Battalion Landing Team 10 (SOP, MBLT-10) in coordination with Calayan Police, Cagayan PPO conducted OPLAN PAGTUGIS and OPLAN PAGLALANSAG OMEGA 2:10 AM of September 2, 2018, that resulted to the arrest of Edison Erese, a.k.a. Jingjing/Ronnel/Elmer current Staff Member, Regional Operational Command (ROC); Military Staff (MS) KR- Cagayan Valley and Divina Erese (wife of Edison C. Erese), former Medical Officer of "Danilo Ben Command West Committee by virtue of the following Warrants of Arrest for Violation of RA 9516, (Illegal Possession of Explosives in relation to COMELEC Resolution 10015) with Criminal Case #18132 RTC Br. 01, Tuguegarao City; Qualified Assault upon an Agent of Person in Authority with Murder with Criminal Case # 18134, 18135, 18138, 18139, 18141, 18142, 18144, & 18146 RTC Br. 01, TC; and Arson with Criminal Case # II-13645 RTC Br. 08, Aparri, Cagayan. Pieces of evidence confiscated during said operation from Edison were one (1) Remington Cal. 45 pistol with SN 486237 (chamber loaded); one (1) piece stainless magazine for Cal. 45; fourteen (14) lice ammo for Cal. 45 and one (1) pc hand grenade “Atis Type”. Also confiscated from Divina were one (1) Armscore Cal. 45 with SN A1109830; One (1) pc magazine for Cal. 45; five (5) live ammunition for Caliber 45 and one (1) pc hand grenade “Atis Type”. The arrested couple and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to CIDG Cagayan PFU for documentation and proper disposition.
