Apolinario, who had served as the deputy chief for administration (TCDA) since March 2017, has reached the mandatory retirement age for cops (56 years old) last Friday, according to the PNP. He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Sandiwa Class of 1985.
He will be replaced by Deputy Director General Fernando Mendez, whose previous post as the deputy chief for operations (TCDO) will be taken over by Deputy Director General Archie Gamboa.
Meanwhile, Gamboa's previous post as the chief directorial staff (TCDS) will now be manned by Director Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, who served as the chief of the Civil Security Group (CSG) after his brief stint as the head of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
The CSG will now be headed by Chief Superintendent Reynaldo Biay, who served as the deputy chief of Directorate for Intelligence after leading the Eastern Police District (EPD).
Biay's post at the Directorate for Intelligence now belongs to Chief Superintendent Mariel Magaway.
The PNP said the decision to place the said officials in the vacated positions were based on their seniority, competence and service reputation.
The new assignments has been approved by PNP chief, DIrector General Oscar Albayalde upon the recommendations of the Senior Officers Placement and Promotion Board.
Apolinario was among the five officials considered to succeed former PNP chief Ronald dela Rosa in April of this year. He was also named by President Duterte as one of his three picks for the top cop post when he assumed presidency in 2016.
