Investigators of the Quezon City Police District described the fatalities who have yet to be identified as in their late 20s, both wearing black jackets and short pants; one was wearing black bull cap while the other was wearing a red bonnet.
Prior to the incident, police said that victim "Angel" was walking on her way home on the corner of Majaas St. corner Payatas Road in Barangay Payatas at around 11:30 p.m. when two men onboard a black motorcycle without plate number stopped in front her.
The suspects allegedly asked for money from her at gunpoint but she failed to give them. The back rider alighted and forced "Angel" to ride their motorcycle then brought her to a vacant lot along Legaspi Street in the same barangay.
According to the victim, the men tried to rape her but she managed to run and escape.
The girl chanced upon policemen who were traversing Payatas Road corner Molave St. and asked for help. It turned out that the cops were responding to a report about a woman who was abducted by motorcycle-riding men, prompting them to proceed to the area.
The cops said the girl, whose shirt was ripped, was being chased by the two suspects when they chanced upon her. The suspects and the cops exchanged fire after the suspects reportedly shot at the cops first. After the shootout, the two suspects were dead.
QCPD-Batasan Police Station chief Supt. Joel Villanueva said the suspects yielded two .38 caliber snub-nosed revolvers without serial numbers, pieces of fired bullets of caliber .38, and eight sachets of shabu.
Villanueva said they have yet to identify the suspects to check if they are related to any previous crimes or drug-related cases. The suspects' bodies were brought to the PNP Crime Laboratory for autopsy while a follow-up investigation is being conducted.
