ORANI, Bataan - The Mulawin Barangay Council led by Barangay Captain Marvin S. Dela Cruz has passed a “No Parking Ordinance” covering all major streets in the barangay effective August 27.

De la Cruz said that under Barangay Mulawin Ordinance No. 1, Series of 2018, the said ordinance will cover all major public roads such as Yakal Street, Lakandula Street, Lopez Jaena Street, Narra Street (Tarangka), and Ipil Street (Lupang Hinirang).
Dela Cruz cited Republic Act 4136 (Land Transportation and Traffic Code), which prohibits vehicles from making public roads and streets as private parking area as this will obstruct pedestrians.
“Inadopt namin ang pambansang batas na ito bilang barangay ordinance para maiwasan ang pagsisikip ng mga pampublikong kalsada dahil sa mga nakaparadang sasakyan kahit pa ito ay sa tapat ng pribadong tanggapan o gobyerno o tapat ng tahanan,” pointed out Dela Cruz.
The neophyte barangay captain pointed out, however, that vehicles can park for only 10 minutes or can unload and load passengers.
Violators will be fined for P100 in the first offense; - P200 for Second offense and P500 for a third offense and the locking of vehicles’ tires.
Vehicles from government, hospitals, rescue, firetrucks, police and mobile cars can stop temporarily provided they have official business in the streets here.
Dela Cruz said Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations o TODAs can park at designated areas only, adding should obey the said law to avoid sanctions.
To help those who have no parking spaces, dela Cruz said the Sangguniang Barangay of Mulawin has allocated parking spaces near Barangay Hall and Covered Court and these are free of charge.
