'Young Once,' a show for millennials, too

People my age will certainly love Eagle Broadcasting Corp.’s new musical show “Young Once (Upon A Time),” which premieres tomorrow at 8 p.m. on NET 25. Songs that once touched our hearts will be featured on the Sunday evening show but surely it will also appeal to the young, the so-called millennials. After all, nothing compares to the melodies of old, the songs aptly described “Filipino music at its classic best.” ‘Young Once’ hosts Darius Razon, Anthony Castelo, and Eva Vivar (mb.com.ph) ‘Young Once’ hosts Darius Razon, Anthony Castelo, and Eva Vivar “Young Once (Upon A Time)” is hosted by Anthony Castelo, Darius Razon and Eva Vivar, musical icons that saw the best of Philippine music from the ’60s to the ’90s. Anthony, regarded as the Philippines “King Of Love Songs,” is best known for his classic hits “Balatkayo,” “Nang Dahil Sa Pag-ibig” and “Hahanapin Ko” among others. Darius, known as “Mr. Debonair” in the ’70s, made popular the songs “Everybody Knows,” “And I Love You So” and “Carmelita,” among others. Like Zander and Anthony, Darius also went into politics, becoming Councilor of his municipality. Eva, called as the “Connie Francis of the Philippines,” was known for the songs “Mr. Love,” “Nobody’s Child” and “Among My Souvenirs.” Some of the guests in the coming episodes are Zander Khan (did you know that he was mayor of Digos, Davao Oriental for three terms?), former child star Efren Reyes, and Cynthia Garcia. “Young Once (Upon A Time)” aims to promote OPM, give tribute to great Filipino composers, and showcase the best singers of the country. Pilita Corrales, who is among the show’s initial guests, noted this program is long overdue. Directed by Elson Montalbo, the show is a production of NET25’s Edutainment TV (ETV) and a special project of the Office of the President of Eagle Broadcasting Corp.
