Malacañang has commended the consultative committee for doing a “good job” in crafting a draft federal Constitution.

Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque recognized that the preparing a new Constitution was difficult but the committee has accomplished its work.
The committee led by retired Chief Justice Reynato Puno reportedly wrapped up its work and conducted its last en banc session last Saturday.
"We thank the members of the Consultative Commission (ConCom) for completing its task of studying and reviewing the provisions of the 1987 Constitution,” Roque said in a statement.
"Drafting a new Constitution is no easy task but it has been done and accomplished. It is now up to Congress to do its part in finalizing the mode of revising our Constitution. Good job to the ConCom,” he added.
The 25-man committee submitted the proposed federal Constitution to the President last July after months of deliberations and consultations. The proposed amendments include a shift to the federal-presidential form of government and a 50-50 wealth sharing between the federal government and the regional governments.
The committee initially proposed Duterte as head of the transition government but the President opposed such plan and instead pushed for the election of a transition leader.
The committee tasked to review the 1987 Constitution was created by an Executive Order No. 10 in December 2016. Former Chief Justice Puno and other members of the committee were appointed to the posts in January 2018.
