Change the channel!

Proud Actor (PA) probably thought that moving on was easy. When the public learned of his decision to change management, PA was met with quizzical looks. He was already with a Major Management (MM) yet he opted to be with a management that does not have as many opportunities as his former home could offer. (Illustration by Rod Cañalita/Manila Bulletin) /mb.com.ph (Illustration by Rod Cañalita/Manila Bulletin) Well, PA was impatient and he could not wait for his next project. MM was taking its time before giving PA his next assignment as his previous projects performed below expectations. Unlike other talents who had been in a similar situation, PA cut ties before he could be put in the freezer. As time passed, all was not well with PA as he allegedly suffered from separation anxiety. After working on several projects with a new team, nothing has been heard about him. His contemporaries are working on their projects and are quite busy. Seeing them on television was affecting PA to the point that he had to undergo psychiatric help. The advice was simple: PA was told to refrain from watching too much of his colleagues on TV. In short, change the channel. Further, PA was advised to keep busy, like get into sports or new things. After all, PA has other interests that he can pursue given the time he has between projects. What's puzzling was why MM did not even bother to persuade PA to stay and explore his capability under their wing. The answer is PA’s attitude. Unlike his contemporaries, success went to PA’s head and he had moments when he was difficult to work with. Many times, MM had to do damage control to protect and salvage PA’s reputation. And with so many names in their roster and talents who have their feet grounded, it was easy for MM to tell PA, “And out you go!” ‘Certainly the most destructive vice if you like, that a person can have. More than pride, which is supposedly the number one of the cardinal sins – is self-pity. Self-pity is the worst possible emotion anyone can have. And the most destructive.’ –Stephen Fry • • • About-face all the time? The post-breakup scenario is far from over. At the time this couple broke up, social media had a field day on messages that seemed to be indirectly for each other. Even fans got into the picture, which made every move of Sociable Guy (SG) and Ex-Partner (EP) closely observed and given meaning. The situation worsened when other people were bashed, which seemed to indicate some fans could not move on. However, the buzz is that SG is still avoiding EP. Given that SG and EP work in the same place, the chance is high for them to bump into each other and he is uncomfortable with such. SG has reason for avoiding EP, as he could not stand her anymore. One time, SG saw EP from a distance and she was coming toward his direction. He allegedly turned his back and pretended that he forgot something in his dressing room. Not meeting EP in the hallway avoided an awkward moment. Would they have exchanged smiles or small talk or snubbed each other? So, for now, the reality is that SG and EP might indeed meet each other, as they are both busy with their respective projects. To avoid awkwardness, SG has his strategy. He lets his staff leave first to make sure EP is not in sight. Then, he follows and goes on with his business. But the question is, how long could SG avoid EP? ‘It’s only awkward if it matters.’ –Joyce Rachelle Follow @FashionPulis on Twitter and @fashionpulis on Instagram.
