As far as career goes, Bugoy Drilon admits he has had some doubts and dark times in the last 10 years – well, okay, a lot of those, actually.

Still, the singer held on. And now, it looks like the sun is up again.
“There’s a perfect time for everything. As long as you give your best, it will bear fruit,” he said in an interview.
The 28-year-old actor acknowledged that there were times he went under radar. But instead of sulking, he thought of ways to improve so he could prove himself to the public once more.
“I learned that career shouldn’t depend entirely on management or the audiences, but on yourself. Think of what you can do or offer. To evolve, to step up your game,” he said.
A practical guy, Bugoy opened several businesses when people have seemingly “forgotten” him.
“We don’t have to limit ourselves. Always dream and shoot higher than what you know you can do. Like the saying goes, dreaming is free – so dream big.”
Oh? And what’s that for him?
“That maybe one day, I could share my talents not only here in the Philippines but to the whole world.”
Now, that’s huge.
Solo show
Bugoy will hold his first-ever major solo concert “Bugoy: One Day, One Decade” at the Kia Theater in Araneta Center on Sept. 25. The event is presented by Star Music and Wish 107.5.
He expressed gratitude to Wish 107.5 not only because his WISHclusive cover of “One Day” has been getting massive reactions online – he even received an invitation from Matisyahu, the song’s original singer, to perform with him in the United States.
The American reggae star watched, praised, and shared the video of Bugoy’s performance on Wish 107.5 on his Facebook page.
Aside from that opportunity, Bugoy has received the Silver Wishclusive Elite Circle Award, one of the highest citations in the 2018 Wish Music Awards as his Wishclusive performance of Matisyahu’s “One Day” amassed a total of 38 million views in December 2017. Wish 107.5 is giving Wishclusive Elite Circle Awards based on the views garnered by a Wishclusive video in a specified period of time: Bronze – 10M views, Silver – 25M views, Gold – 50M views, Platinum – 75M views, and Diamond for 100M views. As of writing, the “One Day” wishclusive video of Bugoy has more than 74M views and counting.
Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International Vice President for Radio Bong Etorma and Vice President for TV and Marketing Jay Eusebio, said the concert is “long overdue.”
Down-to-earth
Yet Bugoy remains humble. He talks about being born a farmer’s son in Camarines Sur. Back then, all he wanted was to finish his studies and sing before a big crowd on stage one time.
To finance his studies, he worked as a canteen janitor in their university. Soon a rare opportunity knocked at his door when “Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA)” accepted him as one of its scholars. The rest is history.
At the concert, Bugoy will showcase how he has evolved as an artist.
“They will see how my music has changed from ballad to R&B then even reggae,” he said.
The guest performers at the concert are “PDA” season one winner Yeng Constantino, his “We Love OPM” co-participants KZ Tandingan and Klarisse De Guzman, as well as his BuDaKel friends Daryl Ong and Michael Pangilinan.
His former girlfriend Liezel Garcia, who remains his best friend, will also be part of the concert.
