Marikina River’s water level drops to 15.3 meters

Marikina River’s water level continues to drop, falling to first alarm on Monday.

The water level of the said river went down to 15.3 meters as of 8:30 p.m., according to the Marikina Public Information Office (PIO) Facebook page.

On Saturday night, the Marikina River hit 20.6 meters, at third alarm. Many families dwelling near the river were moved to evacuation sites.

Heavy rains flooded several areas in the metropolis, paralyzing vehicular traffic. Some thoroughfares have been not passable to motorists due to floods

To recall, a man who was trying to salvage his motorcycle drowned in the wake of the flooding in Marikina. He was found dead on Sunday morning.

The victim was identified as Dioscoro Camacho, 36, of Barangay Nangka, Marikina.

The local government of Marikina has already suspended classes in all levels on August 14.
