Twenty-eight Filipino Chinese men and women will vie for the title of Mr. and Miss Chinatown 2018, the country’s premier beauty pageant that spearheads the promotion of the unique fusion of the Chinese and Filipino cultures.
This year's official contestants are: Rachel Rialubin Tan, Shiela Mae Tan, Lara Christie Ching, Chinzen Viernes, Sabrina Ng, Jan Caitlin Jan, Frances Que, Marie, Que, Judie Chang, Carly Chua, Patrricia Ann Tan, Danica Jade Yao, Mikel Villamora, Chrizelle Anne So, Robert Tanchip, Ryan Aaron Balila, Lance Oliver Gan, Renz Wycliff Manabat, Kyle Dustin Yeung, Moises Cleon Limyuen, Brian Gocheco, Martin Leonard Chua, Lawrence Chua, Jason Dy Tan, Marc Gan, Michael Yu, Joel Chang and Ian Tan.
During kick-off ceremonies held at the Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila last Wednesday, Rachel Tan and Lawrence Chua were voted Darlings of the Press.
After the press presentation, the candidates will take part in various pre-pageant activities: fashion show, Robinsons Manila, Aug. 15; cultural costume presentation, Resort’s World Manila, Aug. 19; and talent competition, Lucky Chinatown Mall, Aug. 28.
The grand coronation night of the Mr. and Miss Chinatown 2018 will be held at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. The winners and runners-up will receive P200,000.00; P100,000.00; and P50,000.00 worth of cash and prizes respectively.
The female winner of the contest will represent the Philippines at the Miss Chinese International 2019 pageant.
This year’s edition of the pageant is officially launched by Fil-Chi Media Productions, Inc., a lifestyle and television production company that aims to promote the Chinese culture as well as bridge the Chinese and Filipino communities through their TV program Chinoy TV on ABS CBN News Channel (ANC) together with the Miss Chinatown Foundation.
It is presented by Tak Chun Group, co-presented by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc,, and proudly organized by Chinoy TV, Miss Chinatown Foundation and ABS-CBN.
