Justice Samuel Martires officially took his oath as Ombudsman Monday at the Supreme Court Session Hall.

Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio swore Martires into office.
Martires was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Cecilia S. Martires.
On July 27, Duterte announced that he appointed Martires to head the anti-graft and corruption body.
“We have a new Ombudsman. I signed the appointment of Justice Martires,” the President said during his visit to Zamboanga Sibugay.
The President described Martires as a "bright and fair man."
