In line with the government’s drive for transparency in local governance, the Department of Interior and Local Government launched SubayBAYAN, an online platform where the public can monitor the status of projects being implemented in their localities.

SubayBAYAN or Subaybayan ang Pondo ng Bayan is an online platform being administered by the DILG which gives the public a firsthand documentation on the development of locally funded projects nationwide.
It provides real-time information on various projects' physical and financial status; information on the actual location of projects through map overlays and dashboard graphical representations; and offers feedback mechanisms.
Through this, DILG officer in charge Secretary Eduardo Año said the public could keep an eye on the projects being implemented in their respective local government units to ensure that government funds are being spent wisely and judiciously, creating a "check and balance environment."
"It is your one-stop-shop to monitor a DILG-initiated project. Kung magkakaroon po kayo ng pagkakataon na mabisita ang website, you will see a certain project's financial accomplishment, its progress report. You can even comment on it right there and then, your voice will be heard," the DILG chief explained.
Aside from monitoring infrastructure and water projects, Año said that through SubayBAYAN, LGUs can be pushed to fast-track project implementation which could prevent unfinished works.
According to Año, the online system caters to all locally funded projects being overseen by the Department’s Office of Project Development Services.
The said online platform also aids in changing logs and audit trail that keeps track of all the changes and transactions in the system and management of 'project-at-risk' data that allows DILG users to view and manage projects at risk before ending into a critical state.
SubayBAYAN can be accessed through the DILG website at www.dilg.gov.ph.
