MAGPET, COTABATO -- The New People's Army (NPA) Front 51 released on Friday Inspector Menard Cui of the President Roxas Police after seven months in captivity.

(Malu Manar / MANILA BULLETIN) Cui was turned over to Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Bong Go in a mountainous area in Marilog District in Davao City around noon. Cui appeared to be healthy and active. Media, relatives, and members of his immediate family witnessed Cui's release. Cui, however, lost his wife and father-in-law while he was still being held captive by the communist guerillas. Cui was abducted on Dec 28, 2017, while having a drinking session in a videoke bar at Barangay Tuael in President Roxas town where he was assigned as the deputy PNP officer. During the release, Cui expressed gratitude to the NPA for their warm treatment and for not inflicting harm on him while he was with them.
