At least 22 inmates at Bacoor City Custodial Center in Cavite managed to escape Friday afternoon, police said.
Of the escapees, at least three have already been recaptured as of this writing, according to Superintendent Chitadel Gaoiran, spokesperson of Calabarzon Police Regional Office (PRO-4A).
Initial investigation disclosed that Jeremiah Perez, a non-uniformed jail personnel (NUP), was facilitating the taking of the mugshot of a certain Angel Eusebio (male) at 4:23 p.m. when the jailbreak erupted.
The Calabarzon Police has yet to determine the case of Eusebio.
As Eusebio was about to be put inside the cell, the inmates allegedly pressed forward and pushed the gate.
Apparently, the jail guard was overpowered by the inmates.
Perez immediately reported the incident to higher authorities and a manhunt operation was already launched to recapture the escapees.
Police recaptured three of the escapees, Gaoiran confirmed, but their identities we're not yet divulged.
