Manager's killers charged
Charges were filed today against the primary suspects in the killing of a human resource manager in Caloocan City.
The suspects, who are alleged members of a gun-for-hire group, were charged with murder before the Caloocan City Prosecution Office.
On July 11, Jason Cuadrasal, 31, of Caloocan, human resource manager of Good Year Steel Pipe in Quezon City, was shot dead by two unidentified men on Lakas Mahirap Street. He died on the spot.
Police said the two suspects were identified through closed-circuit television footages. However, the police declined to give further information about the suspects' identities.
The Caloocan police earlier said that they were looking into work-related angle as the possible motive.
This was after the suspects left a written message that suggested a work-related motive.
"Kamatayan kay Jason Cuadrasal from Armadong Rebolusyonaryong Manggagawa under the leadership of Manuel Salvacion," the message read.
Investigation showed that some co-employees of Cuadrasal organized strikes weeks before he was killed. (Kate Javier)

Operative hurt in chase
An anti-drug operative of Quezon City Police Station 4 was injured during a scuffle with a female drug suspect who attempted to elude arrest, police reported on Saturday.
QCPD Director Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel Jr. identifed the wounded officer as PO1 Mark Mendieta, of Novaliches Police Station (PS-4) Drug Enforcement Unit.
Mendieta sustained a deep cut on his left leg when he accidentally fell from a roof while arresting the escaping drug suspect.
Initial investigation showed that PS-4 anti-drug operatives set a buy-bust against Arlyn Manlangit, 47, a resident of Barangay Gulod, Novaliches at about 6:30 p.m., Thursday.
Police said that Manlangit was a known drug pusher in her area.
An undercover operative purchased P15,000 worth of shabu from the suspect.
After the deal, the poseur-buyer signaled responding officers to arrest the suspect.
Sensing the authorities, Manlangit tried to escape and scaled the roof of the house of her neighbor.
Mendieta chased the suspect but fell from the roof during a scuffle with her.
Manlangit was cornered and was eventually arrested by the pursuing policemen.
Seized from the suspect were two sachets of shabu with an estimated worth of P54,000, a digital weighing scale, and the marked money.
The QCPD chief along with National Capital Region Police Office Director Guillermo Eleazar visited the injured policeman at the hospital and gave financial assistance for his medical expenses for a 20-stitch wound on his left leg. (Alexandria San Juan)
