Marijuana plants valued at P27.7M destroyed, 4 drug pushers nabbed

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Joint operatives of Kalinga Drug Enforcement personnel, Provincial and Regional Maneuver Force Battalion, and members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera destroyed P27,779,000 worth of marijuana plants at Barangays Butbut Proper and Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga.

In a two-day operations, the anti-illegal drug task force discovered 17 marijuana plantation sites with a total land area of 17,915 square meters planted with 132,020 fully grown marijuana plants and 3,000 grams of MJ stalks on July 19.
Chief Supt. Rolando Nana, regional director of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera, reported the arrest of four drug pushers in a successive buy-bust operation regionwide.
A female drug pusher identified as Marica Day Rizal Santos, 28, alias “Maricar” and a resident of Scout Barrio, Baguio City was arrested on July 19 at Centerpoint Plaza, Bakakeng Central, Marcos Highway, Baguio City.
She was nabbed after she sold a sachet of shabu weighing more or less 0.5 grams worth P3,500.00. Seized from her possession were one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu; One blue cream-o biscuit plastic wrapper; one black Philips keypad cellphone; cash money amounting P1,000 and P2,500 boodle money.
Three more drug pushers were nabbed identified as Catherine Perez Hieras, 48, chef, and a resident of Pines Park, La Trinidad, Benguet was arrested along Upper Session Road, Baguio City, while Davis Polinec Edwas, 39, laborer, of Upper Rock Quarry, Baguio City was arrested at Slide, Tuding, Itogon, Benguet; and Marlon Andaway Mahoy, 40, driver, of Dagupan Centro, Tabuk City was nabbed in Mapaway, Ipil, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
