Piolo Pascual is loaded with many projects. These include five movies under his production outfit Spring Films. Then he will star in two independent films to be directed by Lav Diaz and Raya Martin. By August, the actor will start shooting his advocacy film about Marawi with director Joyce Bernal and Robin Padilla. Filipino actor Piolo Pascual “It’s hard to say no with all of these opportunities coming my way,” he said in Filipino. The 41-year-old Piolo is the man behind this year’s Cinemalaya entry “Kuya Wes” starring Ogie Alcasid, who also serves as co-producer. The movie is about a timid and earnest remittance clerk who falls in love with his regular customer. The festival is on Aug. 3 to 12. Speaking about the much-anticipated “Marawi” film, Piolo expressed sadness that Daniel Padilla isn’t part of the project anymore. “It’s really hard for DJ (Daniel’s nickname) because his new film will be released in August, the same time we’re gonna start shooting. Of course, he will be busy promoting his own film and it will be hard to compete with his schedule then,” he explained. “To be honest, we don’t want to depend on the actor’s schedule because we don’t want the film to suffer. This is a very good movie.” More, Piolo plans to release an album hopefully by end of the year. “If ever there are good compositions, why not? It’s been a long time since I had my album, it’s like five years or six. I want a significant album with singable, catchier songs. I also plan to hold concerts,” he shared. What about a new teleserye? He is currently seen on “Home Sweetie Home” and “Since I Found You,” which is now on its last weeks. “Let’s just give teleseryes to the young actors. I’m done with it!” he said, laughing, relating how exhausting it is for him to do another series. Supportive dad Piolo will be collaborating with his son Iñigo Pascual soon. “Ever since he joined showbiz, we’ve always loved doing music together. We usually write verses of songs that’s why a collaboration is really possible for us. We’re just waiting for the right timing,” he said. Piolo reiterated he is not the type of dad who meddles with his son’s love life. Iñigo is currently linked to Maris Racal and he sees no problem with that. “He (Iñigo) is a grown-up man now, so he has to make decisions on his own,” he said to that effect. “I just want him to be ready. As long as they are sincere to each other, they respect each other and they are happy, then I have no problem with their relationship at all.” He finds Maris very respectful. “I like her because she’s very kind, honest and sincere. She is a good person.” Furthermore We caught up with Piolo at the launch of MegaPro’s videoke machines, which has him as their newest celebrity endorser. “I’m very happy and thankful that despite my age, the trust (by big companies) is still there,” he said, recalling how he suffered a sort of mid-life crisis two years ago. That time, he even thought of leaving show business for good. “I felt burn out, I had no time for myself. I really was going onto something,” he admitted. “So I took a three-month vacation to see what I really wanted to do. But God didn’t allow me to quit, so as my management.” More determined now, Piolo said he is up for staying relevant in the industry on and off cam. No love life? No worries, he smiled. “I have no time for that. What I always want to do is sleep!” he said. “Well, I believe love can wait so let’s just wait for the right time, for the right girl. Let’s just have work as my love life for the meantime,” he said.
