P22-B CALAX to be finished on sked

The P22-billion Cavite Laguna Expressway (CALAX) will be finished on time, by 2020, Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar announced after an on-site visit over the weekend.

“I am very happy with its progress, we are expecting that the Laguna Segment will substantially be completed by December, 2018," he told reporters.
The P10-billion Laguna segment, spanning 7 kilometers of the 45-km stretch of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway, covers Laguna Boulevard to Mamplasan, Biñan.
Once finished, travel time will now be under 10 minutes through this section.
"Cutting travel time by half will bring ease of travel to about 7,300 vehicles daily that would normally travel 20 minutes from Laguna Boulevard to Mamplasan, Biñan,” Villar explained .
The DPWH Secretary inspected the site four months ago to check on its progress and saw the foundations of the elevated portions of the alignment, being built.
“We are pleased that our project is moving as it should given the available construction areas turned over to us. We are also pleased that our project is able to create jobs in the surrounding towns and cities," says J. Luigi Bautista, President and CEO of MPCALA Holdings, Inc.

"The Laguna segment has brought 820 jobs and estimated to increase to 1,200 as the construction progresses,” he pointed out.
The Cavite-Laguna Expressway is one of the network of tollroads which the MPT South Corporation is constructing and developing.
It will connect to Cavitex and the C5-Southlink which will make travel and mobility from Laguna, Cavite, Las Piñas, Parañaque and CP Garcia Avenue seamless.
