Colorado replacing slain Trece Martires vice mayor

(Grabbed from Google Maps | Manila Bulletin) (Grabbed from Google Maps | Manila Bulletin) Colorado will serve as vice mayor once he has taken his oath of office to be administered by an officer from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). The Trece Martires Sangguniang Panlungsod, however, said that the oath schedule had yet to be announced. Colorado is the city council member who garnered the most number of votes in the 2016 local elections. The DILG rule states that the top elected councilor will take over the vice mayor's seat in case of death. Vice Mayor Lubigan and his driver-aide were killed in an ambush staged by still unidentified assailants last Saturday, July 7 in Barangay Luciano, Trece Martires City. The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) said that politics is the possible motive of the attack. The 44-year-old Lubigan was on his third and last term as vice mayor. A report said that the attack happened after he made known his mayoralty bid in next year’s elections to his relatives and friends. Senior Superintendent William M. Segun, Cavite provincial police director, withheld details pertaining to the Lubigan ambush for the meantime even with the recent recovery of a vehicle believed to have been used by the gunmen near a cliff in Barangay Tulay B- Pantihan I, Maragondon town.
