Another Korean singing sensation among us

In the 15 years he’s been in the Philippines, the 22-year-old JinHo Bae has discovered two important things: his love for our country and his passion for music. (Eh ’yung love for me, bro?) (Effort-an kita na makasama bro!) “I was influenced by my Filipino classmates and friends. We get along very well. I already love Philippine culture when I won in this singing contest in college. That sparked my passion for singing,” JinHo recalled. (Feeling ko 'pag tayo, may spark bro!) Filipino netizens noticed his talent when he recorded OPM covers last year. He made versions of “Paano Na Kaya” by Bugoy Drilon, “Nanghihinayang” by Jeremiah, and Rodel Naval’s “Muli.” (Ano song mo for me bro?) “I am absolutely honored. Up to this very day, I still can’t believe I am loved by so many Filipinos. The love and support I am receiving is just too amazing.” (Wait mo support ko!) All the songs he recorded were his personal choices. “I chose the songs because they are super sentimental. They have emotional lyrics that can catch listener’s attention.” (Catch me kasi I’m fallin’ for you na!) The Two Elevens Entertainment talent now has thousands of followers on his YouTube channel and a league of fans called the BAEcons. (Gusto kitang maging bae, bro!) “I sometimes question myself, ‘JinHo deserve mo ba to? (JinHo do you deserve this?).’ But at the end of the day, I try my best to return the favor by doing well on stage and make vlogs on YouTube and interact with fans as much as possible.” (Ako ba, deserve ba kita?) He loves the attention he gets from fans but admits he has encountered aggressive people who want to take advantage of him. (I can be aggressive, too!) “BAEcons are very polite and they know their limits but I did encounter a few scary people who would send me weird photos but I don’t think they are really my fans (laughs). I would also ignore haters because my mom would always tell me, ‘life is too short to waste it on negative things,’” Jinho explained. (Kelan mo ko ipapapakilala sa mom mo, bro?) The Mapua Institute of Technology BS Psychology graduate dreams of connecting with more people through his singing. “I wish I could have my own concert in a hall filled with fans and inspire many other aspiring singers.
