Tarlac mayor condemns killing, rape of employee

By Mar Supnad TARLAC CITY -- Outraged by the brutal rape and killing of a woman employee here, the people of this once-peaceful city led by Mayor Cristy Angeles condemned yesterday the gruesome death of Corazon Ofrecio. (PIXABAY / MANILA BULLETIN) (PIXABAY / MANILA BULLETIN) Mayor Angeles said, “with deep sadness, we lost one of our government employees in a gruesome crime.” “The whole City Government of Tarlac deeply condemns this act of violence,” said Angeles. Angeles assured she would "personally launch a thorough investigation with the City PNP and we will not stop until the perpetrators are brought to justice. “ The victim, a city hall employee detailed at the Accounting office, in this city was found dead along a grassy portion of Barangay Lawy, Capas, Tarlac, on Thursday. Ofrecio, 52, of Barangay San Manuel in this city was already in the state of decomposition when her body was found by an employee of the Department of Public Works and Highways. The victim was found four days after she went missing last Monday. Based on the autopsy report conducted by the Tarlac Provincial Laboratory Office, the victim was strangled to death after she was allegedly raped by the suspect.
