Drug pusher slain

A suspected drug pusher was killed after he allegedly engaged police in a shootout in Valenzuela City Tuesday night.

Sr. Supt. David Nicolas Poklay, city police chief, identified the slain suspect only as "Golem."

Members of the city's drug enforcement unit led by Chief Inspector Jowilouie Bilaro launched a buy-bust operation against Golem in Barangay Malinta around 8 p.m.

However, Golem fired shots after sensing that he was transacting with an undercover cop, prompting the team to retaliate.

Golem, who sustained gunshot wounds in the body, was brought to Valenzuela Medical Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Golem's cohort identified as 21-year-old Ranny Manalastas, a pedicab driver, was arrested.

Recovered from the scene were 20 sachets of suspected shabu and a caliber .38 pistol. (Kate Javier)

Shabu worth P2.1-M seized

Shabu estimated to be worth P2.1 million worth was seized from five drug peddlers during separate stings in Caloocan City.

Anti-narcotics agents from the city's drug enforcement unit led by Sr. Inspector Cecilio Tomas arrested Ivy De Luna, 29; Eligio Ramos, 31; Erwin Panganiban, 26; and Danica Dionisio, 27.

They were arrested for conspiring to sell sachets of shabu along Masagana Street in Barangay 73 around 11:30 p.m.

Police said they seized 100 grams of shabu worth P700,000 from them.

During interrogation, De Luna pointed to Jerome Gaje, 26, as her source of illegal drugs.

Gaje was then nabbed during a follow-up operation in Pasay at around 12:15 Wednesday.

Superintendent Ferdinand Del Rosario, police deputy for administration, said they recovered 150 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.4 million from Gaje. (Kate Javier)
