Cultural extravaganza slated in Eastern Visayas

By Restituto Cayubit TACLOBAN CITY – The Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival of Festivals, the biggest cultural extravaganza in Eastern Visayas’ will have its parade on the major thoroughfares of this city, on Wednesday, June 27. Petilla, the concurrent chairperson for the event, told Manila Bulletin that the parade of the Pintados-Kasadyaan festival which is celebrating its 23rd year while the Pintados which is on its 32nd year this 2018, will be participated in by 5 contingents from Leyte and Samar. Petilla identified the participating festivals as: Buraburon Festival of Burauen; Sangutan Festival of Barugo; Tribu Pasaka Festival of Tanauan; Heraite Festival of Leyte town; and Solosogi Festival of Balangiga, Eastern Samar. The parade is one of the events that brings together cultural performances that highlight the fiesta celebrations this coming June 30. Petilla pointed out that the Pintados-Kasadyaan festival promotes the rich cultural heritage of Eastern Visayas, claiming that champions in the Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival of Festivals in the past had won in the national festival competitions like the Sinulog in Cebu and the Aliwan in Manila. She added that she is confident that the champion in this year’s festival will win in the national festival competitions. The winners in this year’s Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival of Festivals will receive P700, 000 for first prize; P500,000 for second prize; and P250,000 for third prize, while the consolation prize is P50,000, Petilla said. Petilla also said that a prize of P100, 000 for the best in costume and another P100,000 for the best music, respectively, is allotted for the participants. Petilla said that the security of the street parade and the performances at Leyte Sports Development Center will be enforced by the police officers from this city, Leyte Police Provincial Office and from the Eastern Visayas Regional Police Office.
