A multi-million access road leading to Nancy Falls in Zamboanga City is now underway and is expected to be fully opened next year, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced Friday.
The last three phases of the 17.3 kilometers Junction National Highway – Ayala La Paz Road in Barangay La Paz are now underway, according to Region IX Director Jorge Sebastian Jr.

Under the multi-year project, upgrading a total of 6.16 kilometers of road has been completed while an additional 2.7 kilometers will be finished before 2018 ends, Sebastian said.
The whole 17.3-kilometer stretch of road is expected to be fully accessible by 2019.
Dubbed as Zamboanga City’s “Little Baguio”, the forested area of La Paz is now a place where people find relaxation due to its cold weather and scenic views, promoting tourism, Sebastian stressed.
Before the road paving took place, people used habal-habal in traversing rough and often muddy road sections to get to Zamboanga’s famous Nancy Falls, flower gardens, vegetable farms, and wildlife attractions.
The project has a total budget allocation of P650-million under the Tourism Road Infrastructure Program of the DPWH in convergence with the Department of Tourism.
