The album, released on May 18, debuted at No. 1 in the June 2 chart and placed sixth and 14th in the June 9 and 16 charts, respectively.
In addition, the album’s carrier single “Fake Love” charted at No. 71 in the latest Hot 100 chart, after debuting at No. 10 last June 2. The single placed 51st and 48th in the next two weeks.
This is the first time that a K-pop group placed in both charts for the fourth consecutive week, according to Big Hit Entertainment.
For the fourth straight week, “Love Yourself: Tear” also grabbed No. 1 on the World Albums chart, No. 4 on Independent Albums, No. 14 on Top Album Sales and Top Current Albums and No. 12 on Billboard Canadian Albums.
“Fake Love” is also No. 1 on World Digital Song Sales, No. 6 on Billboard’s Mexico Ingles Airplay, No. 68 on Billboard Canadian Hot 100, No. 34 on Mexico Airplay and No. 39 on Mainstream Top 40.
BTS also grabbed the No. 6 spot on Billboard’s Artist 100, their 88th week on the chart.
On the other hand, Bang Si-hyuk, the founder and CEO of Big Hit Entertainment, BTS’ agency, has been named by Variety as one of the International Music Leaders of 2018.
“Bang founded BigHit Entertainment 13 years ago, but 2018 will mark the year its boy band BTS solidifies as the K-pop act that is also a global pop force. The septet’s new album ‘Love Yourself: Tear’ is on its way to making history for Korean artists as it battles Post Malone for the No. 1 spot in the U.S.,” according to Variety.
