Clark airport to tap North Luzon market

(Zaldy Comanda/MANILA BULLETIN) Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) President and CEO Alexander Cauguiran recently led the DMIA roadshow in this city to showcase the airport’s four-phase development to further improve its facilities and boost air passenger convenience. Cauguiran said the ongoing development allows Clark Airport to service millions of passengers with the aim of capturing the patronage of travelers from Regions 1, 2, 3 and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) as well as Metro Manila’s north or CAMANAVA (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela Cities). Taken together, these areas have a total population of over 24 million, he said. The four phases of the P17 billion development plan is scheduled to be completed before the term of President Duterte in 2022. Phase 1 includes the horizontal and vertical structures with five components – a terminal which will increase the capacity to eight million per annum; an access way to the terminal; the secondary access way that will allow vehicles coming from the SCTEX to reach the airport terminal without entering Clark economic zone; a separate building where people who fetch and bring relatives can stay; and a bigger parking area. The succeeding phases will further increase the terminal’s capacity to 80 million which will be implemented on a modular scheme that will be operational by the second quarter of 2020.
