Bohol-Bali direct flight to start soon

By Minerva BC Newman Cebu City – Direct flights from Bohol to Bali, Indonesia will soon start with the Manila Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia deputy chief of mission Minister Bhudi Dhewajani expressing his optimism that the new gateway will spur investment opportunities between Bohol and his country. In his letter to Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto, Dhewajani said he will also be glad to welcome the Bohol leader and members of the province’s business sector to the 33rd Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) in Jakarta in October, this year. Jakarta is one of the fastest growing economies in the world today and the TEI is one of the biggest business-to-business export product exhibitions in Asia, exploring trade, tourism and investment opportunities, according to a press release from the office of the Bohol governor. In March this year, Dhewajani and his party met with Bohol officials, led by Chatto and Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) President Albert Uy, to discuss the vision and insights in promoting Bohol and Bali. According to Chatto with the new Bohol-Panglao International Airport to start its commercial operations in August or September this year, opening of direct flights from Bohol to Bali and Jakarta and vice versa will now be possible. Bali and Bohol’s Panglao are both resort islands, and Jakarta is Indonesia’s capital and largest city listed as “alpha global city” by the Globalization and World Cities (GaWC) Research Network. Bali, on the other hand, has set a new continental record as the first Asian spot that was declared the world’s best tourist destination by the TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site. According to Dhewajani the direct flight can cater to the needs of the tourists in both countries to see for themselves the serene beauty of each other’s tourist spots. Chatto said there will be international tourists on packaged tour connecting Bali. Both have its own international airport and expecting 20 million tourists in 2019.
